Bucks New University students illustrate business links in ‘Enterprise Showcase’ 



An ‘Enterprise Showcase’ saw 14 teams from Bucks Business School at Buckinghamshire New University exhibit examples of projects carried out for local firms in the High Wycombe area during a four-month module.

Attendees included Ginette Gower, editor of Business Voice who commented: “The showcase was a truly inspirational and demonstrated the entrepreneurial spirit of the students who took part.  It was also a great representation of what our ‘Made in Bucks’ campaign is all about.”

One team, ‘Synergy’, worked with chocolatier Auberge du Chocolat, based in Gerrards Cross. BA (Hons) Business and Finance student Harrison Gilkes, a member of ‘Synergy’ said they gained a great deal from working with brand: “It was extremely rewarding to work with Auberge du Chocolat. Work included identifying new revenue streams and reviewing the client’s use of digital and social media.”

Another team, ‘Focus Consultancy’, attracted 30 volunteers to a conservation project in Carver Hill, High Wycombe with social enterprise Chiltern Rangers. Students also worked with the likes of Eden Shopping, Wycombe Sound, and Student Nannies.

Senior Lecturer Chris Parsons added: “The purpose of the enterprise module is for students to add value to a business, having pitched competitively for the work. It is about understanding and researching the needs of the client and business and delivering a measurable outcome for them.”
