The British Chambers of Commerce Expert Panels guide the formulation of BCC policy in relation to their areas of expertise, and inform representation into Her Majesty’s Government, key policy decision makers and industry organisations. They ensure that the BCC has the specialist input required to represent the interests of Accredited Chambers of Commerce and their member companies authentically.
Panel members provide expert knowledge in their field and have a good understanding of the impact of policy in their Chamber’s region. They must be nominated to the Panel by their Chamber and appointed by the BCC. Their role includes:
- Representing the views of the BCC at meetings with policy makers from the government and other influential bodies;
- Acting as a sounding board for the BCC as required for reactive response to policy changes and developments;
- Assisting the BCC in responding to consultations and calls for evidence.
There are currently three BCC Expert Panels, with representatives from Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce on two of them:
