Chamber Legal Expenses
Increased litigation is costing UK business in excess of £200m per
year - yet it is estimated that less than 10 per cent of companies
cover this potential cost with insurance.
The Chamber has responded to this situation with a new, exclusive
- and free service for members called 'Chamber Legal Expenses'.
It is provided by Composite Legal Expenses on behalf of the British
Chambers of Commerce. It gives members up to £50,000 legal fees
cover for commercial legal matters ranging from employment and personal
injury to tax investigations and criminal prosecution.
Chamber Marketing Communications Manager, Kate Rigollet: "Disputes
and offences are problems businesses increasingly have to face.
Statutory requirements are becoming ever more complex and penalties
are escalating. It's recently been estimated that there are 400
applications to tribunals every day - and this figure is growing!
"Chamber Legal Expenses is a risk management facility that
guides members through every stage of the claims process. It
provides confidential legal advice on claims 24 hours a day
and protects companies against the potentially crippling costs
of professional fees".
Subject to reasonable prospects of success, Chamber Legal
Expenses covers employment issues including sexual and racial
discrimination, industrial tribunals, EU directives and
contracts of employment.
Personal injury cover applies to all directors, employees
and partners during both business and personal activities - so
it represents an attractive benefit to your employees.
Criminal prosecution insurance applies to issues such as health
and safety and the data protection act is also covered. Claims
of up to £1,000 can be made if any employer or employee is
required for jury service.
Kate concludes: "In the event of a legal dispute, Chamber Legal
Expenses ensures disruption to members' business, customers and
staff is minimised. It gives you peace of mind that there is someone
to turn to and means you can continue to focus on core business
activities. All this is included with your membership subscription".
