More Information:

Oxfordshire Chamber of Commerce, in association with our hosts and sponsors Blake Lapthorn, established the forum back in 2007. Since then, it has played a key role in the area, enabling businesses to address the complete range of land-based issues with particular focus on property and planning.

An excellent buffet lunch will be provided at 12:00 noon. This will be followed by keynote and project presentations on issues of interest to business. The Forum has already provided an opportunity for a wide range of professionals to come together with local government colleagues; to share knowledge, information and other best practice. Meetings are held at the offices of Blake Lapthorn, at Seacourt Tower, West Way, Oxford.

Although the Forum is primarily for Chamber of Commerce members, such is the popularity of these events that we have drawn a much wider audience, including professionals and political decision makers with an interest in property, planning and land.

We anticipate places for these events will be in great demand, so we suggest you book as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. Whilst the event will be open to Chamber members and non-members alike, Chamber members will have first call on the limited number of seats available. We will hold a non-member listing and confirm your attendance in good time. A reserve list will also be in operation for those members and non-members seeking to attend once the venue limit has been reached.

Speaker: Martin Gibbons, Director, Vital Energy

Subject: Stay Rich: use less energy

As the price of gas, coal, oil and electricity continues to be volatile, one of the major costs of running a business faces an uncertain future. The Coalition Government’s promise to oversee a “quiet green revolution” has placed a greater emphasis on the creation of Low Carbon jobs and energy efficiency in business practice.

Energy costs continue to rise and our reliance on fossil fuels continues to dominate our thinking. Our businesses are now faced with not only financial drivers to achieve greater efficiency, but the prospect of legislation, too.

Martin Gibbons, Director of Vital Energy, a specialist provider of energy efficiency consultancy for commercial and public sector buildings, will provide an update on the statutory and financial drivers in this important area. He will also highlight what changes will occur by 2015 and how individuals and companies can prepare for them. Also, drawing on his experience across the UK, Martin will offer simple and pragmatic solutions to ‘future proof’ against escalating energy and carbon costs.

The presentation will give Oxfordshire Property Professionals and business people a valuable insight into the world of energy and carbon pricing. It will focus on the challenges over the next five year and offer pragmatic ‘real world’ solutions to these problems.
