Topic: Rural Policing in Aylesbury Vale

Taking a look at today’s challenging policing environment, Inspector Emma Garside of Thames Valley Police will give us a view from the “front line”. The issues facing the rural community are subtly different to the more common business crimes faced by the majority of us.

Inspector Garside will outline the current picture in Aylesbury Vale in relation to crime today compared with that of previous years. She will also identify some of the options that are available for reducing and detecting offences – including the increasingly important role of the media.

The specific differences in policing rural (as opposed to urban) locations will be highlighted and Emma will give us an overview of the current levels of partnership work that the police now undertake. She will also outline some of the challenges involved in the changing of public perceptions and managing expectations.

There will be an opportunity for questions and answers, but specific discussion around individual cases will not be possible unless questions are forwarded to speaker in advance of presentation.

Delegates will gain a thorough insight into the role of a neighbourhood policing team and gain a greater understanding of crime and policing in Aylesbury Vale.
