West Berkshire Overview

Newbury is the largest town in West Berkshire. Hungerford, Pangbourne, Thatcham, Theale and Tilehurst are also significant towns. The district is widely recognised as an area with a high concentration of high-tech firms and is home to companies such as Atomic Weapons Establishment (AWE), Bayer, Nextra, Quantel and Vodafone. Tourism and recreation play an important part within the district which is renowned for its horse racing interests.

The West Berkshire Chamber of Commerce, or as it was then called Newbury & District Chamber of Trade, was formed in 1919. The president is Ian Vickerage of Imago Micro Ltd.
