Slough Chamber Awards Gathers Momentum
Thursday, 12th November 2009
The competition is hotting up in Slough, as some of the best businesses in the region battle it out to achieve one of the nine highly coveted awards available through the Slough Chamber Awards.
Climaxing at a Gala Dinner on 25 February 10, the awards – sponsored by O2, Kinnarps, SEGRO, Slough Borough Council, Polycom, Haines Watts, UK Trade and Investment, Owen White Solicitors and the Berkshire Media Group – aim to celebrate the wealth of entrepreneurial talent in the area, and to recognise the hard work and determination of its businesses.
The awards have nine categories, each sponsored by one of the region’s leading organisations, including: Business of the Year; Award for Excellence in People Development; Entrepreneur of the Year; Achievement in International Business; Most Promising New Business; Micro Business of the Year; Excellence in Customer Service; Award for Innovation; and The Green Award.
Commenting on the awards, Polycom UK & Ireland’s area vice president, Aaron Payne, said: “As a global leader in telepresence, video and voice solutions, Polycom is delighted to support the Slough Chamber of Commerce with its sponsorship of the 2010 Award for Innovation. The Award for Innovation demonstrates just how businesses are putting technology to the best use, which not only helps drive cost efficiencies, but can improve employee productivity, lower carbon footprint and deliver better value to customers, especially in today’s economic climate”.
Angus Murray, international trade adviser for UKTI – which is sponsoring the Achievement in International Business award – added: “In the current climate, it’s more important than ever for business to grow their client base and find new opportunities and business overseas. UK Trade & Investment, as the Government organisation that helps businesses to trade overseas, is delighted to be sponsoring the International Business awards at the Slough Chamber Awards. We want to celebrate the success of those companies that have worked hard to maintain their competitive advantage and develop their business into international markets.
“The Slough region has many dynamic businesses with unique selling points and we would encourage any business that has expanded overseas to enter this category and let us celebrate your success with you!”
Christina Howell, head of external affairs for the Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce Group, which includes the Slough Chamber, said: “With so many great businesses in the Slough area, we are delighted to give them the opportunity to shout about their achievements and to be rewarded for them. There are many things that make a business great, and it’s not always about profit. This isn’t about the biggest or most established businesses, it’s about achievement and that means the winners could be small sole traders, or large corporate companies.”
