The Young Chamber is a national chamber initiative that enables young people to develop commercial awareness and enterprise through contact with local employers and exposure to business issues. They are thus better prepared for the world of work, benefiting from improved employability, skills and confidence.

The Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce Group is working with various schools on the Young Chamber Project. Working with local schools, the Chamber helps students set up a Young Chamber Committee in their school, initially comprising of 12 students. The committee then organise business and enterprise activities for rest of the school. Students are encouraged to use their business aptitudes whilst planning, organising and running these events.

Young Chamber is incredibly important as it provides an important link between businesses and young people. It provides students with a greater understanding of business, the workplace and future employment opportunities, which will help enrich the area’s future workforce.
